Two men whose car broke down were struck and killed Wednesday night.
California Highway Patrol spokesman Brandon Straw said that their car, a 1986 Toyota Camry, had broken down because they were parked squarely on the shoulder between southbound Highway 87 and the Interstate 280 connector at 11:45 p.m.
According to the Santa Clara County Coroner's Office, one of the victims was 50-year-old Rashmail Singh Judge.
The name of the second man is still not disclosed.
The victims appeared to be in their 50s and were wearing rental car company uniforms. It's unclear whether anyone in the suspect vehicle was injured.
