Alleged Drunken Driver Suspected In Series Of Crashes

March 24, 2006

A suspected drunken driver allegedly fleeing a hit-and-run crash caused two other crashes that left one person dead and another injured in Sacramento late Tuesday.

The alleged hit-and-run happened about 11 p.m. at Watt Avenue and Arden Way and was followed by two more crashes at Watt and Fair Oaks Boulevard.

California Highway Patrol officials said the driver of a white Lexus hit another car at Arden Way and fled south on Watt Avenue.

The driver then hit a Toyota Corolla after running a red light at Watt and Fair Oaks, killing the 73-old woman who was driving.

The Lexus then collided with a third vehicle, sending that driver to an area hospital with minor injuries.

The identities of the suspected drunken driver and the victims have not yet been released.
